When is the Best Month to Buy a House?
Uh oh... this post seems familiar to one a couple of weeks ago... then one where I said "the best month to sell is when you are ready" ... and we cued the angry mob. lol.
Well... my answer is going to be the same... the best month to buy a house is when you are ready!! (*Nicole runs away*)
But, to be more helpful than that statement, here are some things you can consider that might be important to you:
Buying in the winter or 'lower sales' season - the key benefit of buying this time of year is there are fewer buyers and less competition. The sellers that list are generally serious and want to do a deal, versus some that list in the summer to "see if I get any bites," and you can generally be a bit more aggressive with your offer (pending no competition).
Buying in the spring to fall or 'higher sales' - this is when you'll be met with the most competition as it is when the highest volume of buyers are looking. This is also when the highest number of new listings hit the market, so you're being exposed to the most inventory. You also benefit from favourable weather (read: no snow) so it makes for a better inspection of the exterior of the property.
Regardless of your preferred season, it's never too early to get prepared to buy a home. Pre-approvals take time. So don't wait until the home you love lists to get ready to buy. That's a recipe for disappointment.
